So before you start packing for your Italy honeymoon, let’s start with the things you need to know to have an epic and memorable honeymoon experience in Italy.

When is the best time to plan a honeymoon in Italy?

The best time to enjoy your honeymoon in Italy really depends on where you are going in Italy, your itinerary, and the type of activities you are planning. Ideally, spring and fall are the best seasons as the climate is particularly delightful during these months, and you get to avoid the intense summer heatwaves and tourist crowds. But summers in Italy can also be very special, especially if you choose locations along the coast or seaside. Do keep in mind that Italy welcomes tourists year-round, but there are obviously slightly calmer seasons.
That being said, it all depends on the type of activities you’re planning for your honeymoon and the region you’re targeting. If you want to go on long, fascinating hikes, followed by relaxation time in romantic wooden chalets then the Dolomites might be the best option as winter honeymoons are also a great experience. But if you’re into sipping cocktails on a boat deck while cruising the Amalfi Coast, then both summer and spring are the perfect period.

How long should you stay in Italy?

There are no rules here as to how long you should stay in Italy. However, it is recommended to stay at least 3 days in each city/area to take it all in. Between the many things to see, do, taste and discover, anything less won’t allow you to enjoy it fully.
However, we recommend starting with a relaxing city at the beginning of your trip to make sure you are well-rested after all the wedding preparations and the big party.
Another fact you have to know is that you won’t get to see all of Italy – no matter how long your honeymoon is, there are SO many things to discover, and Italian regions are very different from one another in terms of sceneries, nature, activities, moods, etc. BUT the good news is you can still visit them for anniversaries and other occasions!

What to pack when traveling to Italy?

Well, it’s Italy so you will find everything you want! You don’t have to worry about finding medicine, or if you forgot something back home. But to be ready and avoid last-minute stress or tourist fares, you might want to pack the following:

  • a plug adaptor that fits Italian outlets
  • Upgrade your mobile plan’s data to make sure you can connect to the internet when you need to as WiFI is not always the best unless you are in a big city or capital. Don’t get us wrong, you are there to disconnect and enjoy quality time with your other half, but you will need the internet to book activities, browse things to do, find directions etc.
  • A power bank, the travel must. Every corner in Italy is insta-worthy so you will need your phone’s camera to always be ready!
  • Pickpocketing is a real thing. Make sure you pack anti-theft bags or at least handbags that are difficult to open, like a crossbody bag with a zipper.
  • High-quality walking shoes. Active couple or not, you will need good comfortable shoes to stroll along all the beautiful cobblestone streets, climb hills and shop till you drop – Buongiorno Italian fashion!
  • Cute outfits. Yes, that is not Italy specific, but it is your honeymoon, and Italy is so romantic: we don’t want you to take any risk and forget them!

How much does a honeymoon in Italy cost?

Just like a trip to Italy, it can cost as much as you want it to! Many variables can impact your budget and cost like:

  • The region: a honeymoon in The Lakes or Amalfi will surely cost more than one in another part of Italy just because of the high-demand and luxurious activities available.
  • The season: the higher the season, the more costly your honeymoon will be. With more tourists come higher prices and fares, including accommodations, flights, hotel bookings, transportation (car rentals, trains, etc.)
  • The type of honeymoon you are planning and the activities you want to do

You will find in Italy several price points depending on your taste and goals. The good thing is that Italy has a rich heritage, culture, architecture, and nature that you will be able to enjoy your honeymoon to the fullest no matter your budget! There will always be a unique, romantic, and memorable thing to do or see.
