5 Ways to Manage Your Pre-Wedding Jitters

You’re getting married!! How exciting is that! You’re planning your big day and your honeymoon to the last detail but then… You start having doubts and become anxious! Is it you? Is it your partner? Why are you suddenly feeling so scared? Shhh… Turn down the minions in your head because pre-wedding jitters are totally normal!

As a matter of fact, getting married is a huge change in your life and all the planning can become very overwhelming very fast. So, are you sure these are pre-wedding jitters to start with?

What are the signs of pre-wedding jitters?

According to Psychology Today, the signs of pre-wedding jitters can include the following:

  • Having trouble eating and sleeping
  • Having difficulty concentrating
  • Becoming clumsy
  • Being irritable or short tempered
  • Feeling “on-edge”
  • Preoccupation with details about the wedding itself

What can you do to calm down the pre-wedding jitters?

1. Focus on being positive: you’re getting married to the love of your life who you share life experiences with, and who knows you inside out. So, make a list of the things you love about your other half and keep it within reach for those down times. Make sure to take some time off from you wedding planning to just enjoy each other’s company alone or with some friends! Most importantly, delegate wedding planning to a planner to ease some of that stress. If you’re having a destination wedding in Italy, then you can even use WedBoard to connect you directly with a top destination wedding planner to take some of the wedding planning burden away.

2. Make time for yourself: Not everything you do should revolve around the wedding. How about going to the spa, working out at the gym, meditating, or even taking a walk in the park… All these activities will help you focus and gather up your positive energy to stay on top of your game. As the famous Elle Woods says “Exercise gives you endorphinsEndorphins make you happy. Happy people just don’t shoot their husbands (or anyone else for that matter!), they just don’t.”

3. Stay organized: Start by making a checklist of the things you need to do the week before the wedding. Once ready, split it up into tasks and ask a family member or friend for help. Some wedding website builders or wedding planning apps have a wedding checklist feature that can be very helpful to get yourself organized.

4. Keep an eye out for troublemakers: If you fear an invitee might misbehave, drink a bit too much, or maybe insist on singing off-tune, ask someone to keep an eye on them or steal their lucky mic! (wink at The Wedding Planner).

While pre-wedding jitters is completely normal, it’s also important to communicate with your partner when you’re feeling overwhelmed or anxious. You’ll be surprised at how much better you’ll feel afterwards! Talking to your fiancé about your pre-wedding jitters is essential as stress can make even minor issues seem gigantic and you definitely don’t want to add more unnecessary stress to yourself.
